Molasses Grill Receives Virginia Wine Award
When the Virginia Wine Board met in Richmond earlier this year, most had never heard of the Town of Halifax or Molasses Grill. Now, both are on everyone’s mind in Virginia’s prestigious wine world. Why? Molasses Grill has received the 2010 Virginia Wine Masters Program, Crystal 5 Stem Award. The Virginia Wine Board honored Molasses Grill and Chef Steven Schopen for outstanding support of Virginia wines.
The award was presented to Molasses Grill for meeting and exceeding the criteria for promoting Virginia Wines. Chef Steve explains, “Molasses currently carries over 20 Virginia Wines, offers Virginia Wines by the Glass, including many from right here in Halifax County”.
Additionally, Molasses often offers Virginia and local wine pairings, flights, tastings, and dinners such as the one they will be hosting Thursday March 24th during Virginia Wine Week. The four course dinner will feature wine pairings from Hunting Creek Vineyards of Clover, Virginia and will be the first of several to follow with other local wineryes.
Molasses Grill also plans to celebrate Virginia Wine Week and the state’s “Love By the Glass” initiative March 18th through the 27th, by offering extra Virginia wines by the glass, bottle wine specials, and original specialty cocktails featuring local wine.
